Philippe Coutinho has reached an agreement with Liverpool that will see him complete his dream move to Barcelona in January, according to reports in Spain.

The Brazil international was earmarked as one of Ernesto Valverde’s main transfer priorities during the summer, but Liverpool refused to countenance selling their star player.

The Premier League club insisted the former Inter playmaker was not for sale at any price, but Barcelona subsequently claimed Liverpool would have relented had an offer of £183million been tabled.

Klopp on Coutinho's Liverpool reintegration

‘It’s just good to have him.  There were a few ways and the club decided this way.  We are professionals and we take it like it is.  We had no real idea how he would be after the injury and the internationals and he came back in really good shape.

‘The team was happy when he was back.  We are not non-league football.  There are offers for different players and that’s how it is – sometimes people think about it sometimes not.

‘He is here with 100% and that’s really good.’

Coutinho missed the start of the Premier League season through injury but since his return he has scored three goals in his last three games, underlining his importance to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The 25-year-old, however, has not given up on moving to Camp Nou and Mundo Deportivo now claim Liverpool are willing to sell when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

Last week, the same Catalan-based outlet reported that Barcelona were ready to test the Reds’ resolve again with an €80 million (£71m) payment up front with another €30m (£26.5m) in add-ons.
